We now supply ROTHKO & FROST Nitrocellulose Lacquers, Tints and solid colours in 400ml aerosol cans, which is enough for about 4 square metres of coverage (obviously depending on how thickly you spray it). It is ideal for using as either a clear coat over coloured nitro finishes on guitar bodies, or as a clear coat over the natural wood finish on guitar necks and headstocks. Our range of waterslide decals are all compatible with all spray lacquers, including this nitrocellulose. Sunburst Nitrocellulose Lacquer Kit This kit can be used to apply a classic 'Sunburst' finish to guitar bodies. Start with a base of the yellow, then a ring of red over that around the outside, followed by the black around the edges. Each colour is a translucent tint as opposed to a solid colour. As such some of the grain will still be visible, and the 'black' around the outside will actually be a very very dark aubergine (eggplant/purple) colour; this is just like the original vintage instruments. Amber/Orange Sunburst Nitrocellulose Lacquer Kit These lacquers have a dark orange and amber tint, as shown to the right. They are slightly translucent so when applied you will still be able to see the grain through the finish. They are ideal for use instead of a stain. Light Brown (Amber/Brown/Tobacco) Tinted Nitrocellulose Lacquer. Vintage Relic Tint This lacquer has a light brown / amber / tobacco tint to it and is ideal for giving a vintage aged look to guitars. It can be used on wood (over a base of sanding sealer) or over cellulose paintwork, where it gives a similar effect to aged yellowed nitrocellulose. The tint should be built up gradually in light mist coats until the desired level of tint is achieved. The more you put on, the darker it gets! Building it up over a number of layers will also ensure a smooth even finish. The tint can also be rubbed back in places before coating to similate natural wear. Cherry Red Nitrocellulose Lacquer The lacquer has a very strong red tint, as shown to the right. While it is not completely opaque it gives great coverage over lighter woods and will cover up the grain, provided the surface has been prepared properly (i.e. grain filled if necessary, sanding sealer used and sanded back to a smooth, flat surface using 600 grit). WHITE cellulose sanding sealer / primer. This is a combination cellulose sanding sealer / primer formulated for use on wood, to be used after grain filler and before painting. It is compatible with cellulose and acrylic paint, and nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquer. Perfect for preparing guitar bodies befor painting. Being a combination eliminates one step of the process making it easier and quicker. The sanding sealer part of it builds up the surface to eliminate the grain and allows it to be sanded back to an exceptionally smooth base for paint to be applied to. Its white tint means you don't need any other primer, paint can be applied directly on top; all of this allows for a very thin total finish. Please be aware being an aerosol product this is not 'high build', it will take a number of coats to build it up. One can will do approximately one guitar body. Clear Cellulose Sanding Sealer. Sanding sealer is used to eliminate the wood grain and sand the surface back so that it is exceptionally smooth prior to painting, applying a tinted lacquer or a finishing top coat of clear lacquer. It is compatible with cellulose and acrylic paint, and nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquer. It is ideal for preparing guitar bodies prior to applying tinted lacquers for a sunburst finish, or for using on guitar necks before applying the finishing clear top coat. Please be aware that as this is an aerosol product it is not 'high build', it will take a number of coats to build it up. One can is enough for approximately one guitar (body and neck).
